3D modeling workshops

Learn 3D with us

We love creating and printing 3D models, and we want to teach everyone the skills to do it.

Anyone can join our workshops and learn at their own pace. Some people need multiple attempts to get things right, and thats ok! We appreciate that everyone learns at a different speed. Every workshop is a full lesson so you can drop in when you like. You don’t need to know what we did in the last workshop because they are all seperate from each other. If you don’t get to finish the model then you can finish it at home when you like. See our timetable below for age groups and times. Contact us to book one or multiple workshops, its up to you.

We hold workshops Monday to Friday at Hydrogenfabrikken in Fredrikstad. Each workshop cost 250NOK per child for a 1.5 hour workshop. 3D prints are not included in the price due to difference in size and amount of time needed to 3D print your childs unique creation.  Average cost per print is around 50NOK. Our workshops are popular so book your place now!

Making 3D models is easy with  Autodesk Tinkercad. A cloud based software that opens in your web browser, so there is no need to download and install anything. Just log in and go. You can find it here. Perfect for beginners and children, Tinkercad is user friendly and easy to use.

Fusion 360 free CAD software

For older students and adults we teach the industry standard software, Fusion 360 from Autodesk. Its free for students so no better time to learn. You can download it here

Fusion 360 is a cloud-based CAD/CAM tool that combines organic shapes modelling, mechanical design, and manufacturing in one comprehensive package.

What can your child learn with 3D printing?

Children will learn a wide range of skills that will help them in their future lives:

Mathmatics – adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying and more

Geometry – cube, sphere, torus, pyramid, radius, diameter, etc.

Scale – scaling models up and down by percentage

Design – designing models that fit a particular brief.

Problem solving – Using logic to figure out solutions to a problem to be able to model and print an object.

Engineering – printing multiple parts that fit together to form a working prototype.

Creativity – Using 3D printing to create works of art.

Flexibility – There are more ways than one to get things done. Children will learn to be flexible in their thinking to choose the correct method to get the job done.

Careers that need CAD skills

CAD skills are essential for the following career areas:

Architecture

Design

Engineering

Aerospace

Naval Architecture

CAD technician

Product design

Jewellery design

Computer games design

and many more.

Testing

We don’t have any tests or exams at the 3D Academy, the finished 3D printed part is the result of your learning. If it prints then you have completed the learning. You will have a complete collection of printed parts at the end of each Unit to show your achievements.

If you have always wanted to try 3D printing, contact us for more info about the 3D Academy. It would be our pleasure to teach you, and prepare you for the next industrial revolution.
